Playing Opportunities

We are constantly involving players of all skill levels and abilities in various playing opportunities. Below is a brief breakdown of our offerings:

Open Practices | CURRENTLY AVAILABLE

Every week we hold a structured practice for all current WHSC players and prospective players to play. Open to all, featuring players of all skill levels. Check our calendar page, or follow us on social media for updates to practice locations and changes.

Los Angeles CalSouth Municipal League | Competitive (New Season Starts August, tryouts have concluded for these rosters for the Fall season)

Our most competitive league offering. We currently field 3 all-gender teams in LA Muni that play 11v11; the Eclipse, the Fusion the Suns. Games are Sunday afternoons. These teams are all gendered, though the league is defined as “Men’s” and we play against mostly cis-male teams.

Additionally, we field 2 competitive women’s/non-binary teams in LA Muni; the Rockets 7v7 and 11v11. 7v7 games are played on Monday evenings, 11v11 games are played on Saturday mornings.

The seasons typically run 12-14 weeks, fall (late Aug to Nov) and spring (late March to July). Rosters are competitive and are selected at the discretion of captains and the WHSC Board. Tryouts are held before the start of each season; players must attend a minimum number of tryouts to qualify for a roster and must be dues paying members in good standing with the club.

Santa Monica League | Competitive (New Season Starts September, tryouts have concluded for these rosters for the Fall season)

Our Santa Monica league rosters participate in the competitive divisions of the league and play small sided 7v7. The season runs ~10 weeks, games are played at Airport Park, weeknights between 7-10PM.

We currently roster 1 all-gender team in this league and are looking to expand our offerings for the coming season!

LASportsNet | Recreational (New Season Starts August)

Our LASportsNet rosters play small-sided (8v8) on weeknights in Hollywood. The season runs ~8 weeks, offered throughout the year. We typically try to roster 2-3 teams in LASportsNet each season.

Though competitive, LASportsNet remains a great opportunity for players to get to know our club, our members and get back to playing with lower stakes than the LA Muni League rosters.

Pasadena League | Recreational (Currently in season)

We field a 7v7 women’s/non-binary team, the Comets, that play in the Sunday morning Pasadena league. This squad is a great balance of skilled and recreational players and they went undefeated in their Fall regular season! The season runs 8-10 weeks and is offered throughout the year with a new season starting every few months.

Tournaments | CURRENTLY AVAILABLE

Depending on interest, we send one to two teams to various LGBTQ tournaments hosted by our peer soccer organizations throughout the world. Each tournament roster is open to all active WHSC members. Tournament rosters are competitive and are selected at the discretion of captains and the WHSC Board. All tournaments are advertised via the WHSC newsletter and social media.

All league and tournament play requires additional fees outside club dues, as determined by league specific costs. If you are interested in playing with WHSC in tournaments, please visit the our upcoming tournament page to declare your interest.

WHSC Intra-Club Friendly League | Coming soon

During the year, we offer both club members and non-club members the opportunity to play in a small sided league that is operated and run by the club. Our goal is to offer this league in between muni-league seasons, depending on field availability.

The league is typically made up of 6-8 teams (depending on interest), with a max of 14 players per roster. Captains are volunteers and teams are determined via a draft style in an effort to help build new relationships across the club.

Referees are also determined on a voluntary basis and the fees for the league are waived if a player opts to help ref games.

The league will be advertised via the WHSC newsletter, across social media and at practices, and players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.
